Drogba’s junior would rather play for England than the Ivory Coast and France, he told his dad…Didier Drogba’s son is now 15 years old, and according to the Chelsea striker and Ivory Coast football legend’s, his son Isaac is keen to play for England rather than Cote D’Ivoire if he were to become a professional footballer at international level in future.
Isaac currently plays for one of Chelsea’s junior level sides, and would be eligible to represent France, England or Cote d’Ivoire in world football.
Drogba’s national team career spanned 12 years from 2002 to 2014. He recorded 104 appearances for the Elephants, scoring 65 goals. Even though he has never won a major trophy for Ivory Coast, his talent and goals have secured his status as a legend in his home country.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, the 36-year-old striker explained that his son revealed his interest
in playing for the Three Lions. He said
“My son was playing for Chelsea and I asked him which nationality do you want to play for,”
“He’s French, but he said he does not want to play for Ivory Coast or France, he wants to play for England. Even when I was in China, I said to them (Drogba’s children), do you want to come and live with me, but they said that they would come to see me on holidays.”
The striker, who played for Galatasaray in Turkey before returning to the English Premier League with the Blues, missed out on winning the 2015 Africa Nations Cup with the Elephants in February this year in Equatorial Guinea, having retired from international football
